Engineer-Scientist: Computational Hydrogeological/Hydrological Modeler

Savannah River Mission Completion•Aiken, SC
•$85,152 - $209,556•Hybrid

About The Position

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking an Engineer/Scientist - Computational Hydrogeological/Hydrological Modeler to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS). The Computational Hydrogeological/Hydrological Modeler develops, implements, and defends complex fate and transport models to evaluate natural/engineered systems that act as barriers to contaminant transport. Models will be used to support regulatory documentation to advance radioactive waste management projects at the SRS. In addition to modeling, the candidate will prepare technical reports to document their models, perform checking and reviews of work performed by peers, and will interface with regulatory stakeholders, facility engineering and operations, and Department of Energy (DOE) customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geosciences, Computer Science, or other related field from an accredited university or college.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s with 3yrs+ experience; or a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Computer Science, or other related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience in flow and contaminant transport modeling calculations specifically PORFLOW, GoldSim, COMSOL, PFLOTRAN, MODFLOW 6, or MOOSE.
  • Experience with coding quantitatively using Python, R, C++, and Fortran.
  • Experience with sensitivity analysis and uncertainty analysis.
  • Experience with geochemical modeling software, such as PHREEQC and Geochemist’s Workbench.
