About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will apply standard engineering techniques to evaluate product conformance through the execution, optimization, and validation of quality processes. This requires verifying product and process conformance, root cause and corrective action analysis, nonconformance disposition, hardware acceptance planning, and design verification. Establishes quality standards for products and processes and suggests modifications meant to prevent defects in components or final products. Works closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management, and production, to identify and mitigate quality risks. Audits production processes, raw materials, or suppliers/vendors to ensure that established quality standards are met. Conducts root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures. May be responsible for ensuring compliance with formal external quality standards, such as ISO 9001.

Requirements

  • B.S. in engineering
  • 0-1 years of experience
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry and passion for space technology
  • Excellent communication skills, organized, attention to detail, and self-starter.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Nonconforming and MRB process.
  • Knowledge on how to read engineering drawings and identify requirements
  • Knowledge of First Article Inspection per AS9102.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Knowledge in Causal Analysis tools, including cause & effect diagrams, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), 5-why, fault tree analysis, etc.
  • Experience with hardware inspections

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in development and production environments.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals.
  • Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
  • Perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and make recommendations to improve the quality and manufacturability of new designs.
  • Recommend and improve initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality.
  • Provide quality assurance domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test for the Manufacturing team.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers on quality related concerns; develop and present training materials to build quality awareness.
