About The Position

The Product Structuring Configuration Specialist serves as the primary practitioner for the technical execution of product structures within the Gas Power portfolio. You will be responsible for the daily hands-on management of GBOMs configuration rules, PLM data entry, and the technical implementation of product changes—including marketing features, logical structure updates, and part number transitions. This role is the tactical backbone of the Configuration Management Product Structuring team, ensuring that engineering intent is accurately and consistently reflected in our digital systems. You will work closely with the CM Senior Professionals and Lead Engineers to translate high-level strategies into day-to-day configuration tasks, maintaining high data integrity across the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in Configuration Management, Systems Engineering, or PLM-based product structuring.
  • 1 year experience with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, or similar) and managing complex Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in Configuration Management, Systems Engineering, or PLM-based product structuring.
  • Proven ability to handle high-volume data entry and technical modifications with high attention to detail (highly preferred).
  • Understanding of the interdependencies between product structures and downstream manufacturing/supply chain systems (highly preferred).
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical data issues and work within defined processes to meet project deadlines (highly preferred).
  • Proficiency in executing complex GBOM configuration rules and Part Numbers changes in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with "systems thinking"—understanding how a single configuration change impacts the broader product architecture.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a focus on data quality and error reduction.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams in an engineered-to-order environment.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple configuration workstreams simultaneously.
  • Experience with Lean methodologies or process documentation (Standard Work).

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily PLM tasks related to GBOM configuration rules modifications, part number changes, and logical structure updates.
  • Ensure all product structures are maintained according to established standards and configuration rules.
  • Support the accurate translation of engineering design intent into functional and marketing configurations within the PLM environment.
  • Act as the primary implementer for product changes, including marketing feature updates and structural refinements.
  • Perform impact assessments for configuration changes to ensure downstream consistency across the digital chain (MBE, PLM, and ERP interfaces).
  • Manage the "cut-in" process for engineering changes, ensuring timing and inventory implications are addressed.
  • Perform daily data validation and maintenance within PLM to ensure high-quality, audit-ready product data.
  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies between engineering requirements and plant-level system structures.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting for configuration issues encountered during the order-to-delivery process.
  • Adhere to and improve standard work for configuration management, ensuring consistency across the portfolio.
  • Assist in the preparation of configuration data for audits, standards verification, and quality measurement.
  • Participate in Lean initiatives to eliminate non-value-added work in the configuration/structuring process.
  • Support Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and OTR teams by providing accurate configuration data and resolving structuring queries.
  • Participate in technical reviews to ensure configuration changes are feasible and align with cross-functional requirements.
