About The Position

Qualitest is seeking an experienced Engineer III – Nuclear Operations to support a critical Secondary License Renewal (SLR) program for leading nuclear generation facilities in Minnesota. This role will support ongoing SLR initiatives at Monticello and the Prairie Island license renewal application process. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in nuclear power plant operations, regulatory compliance, engineering programs, and licensing activities. This position requires a strong understanding of plant systems, materials of construction, aging management programs, code compliance, and nuclear operational requirements.

Requirements

  • 8–12 years of experience within the nuclear power industry.
  • Strong background in nuclear plant operations, engineering programs, licensing, or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience supporting nuclear systems, aging management programs, or license renewal initiatives.
  • Understanding of plant operations, materials of construction, and nuclear safety requirements.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining programs such as Fire Protection and other regulatory-driven initiatives.
  • Proficiency with SAP
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6
  • Proficiency with Document management and file-sharing platforms
  • Proficiency with Technical document review and compliance verification
  • Proficiency with UKG and/or Workday
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Or related engineering discipline
  • Strong knowledge of program management principles and regulatory compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting Secondary License Renewal (SLR) programs.
  • Experience with ASME code compliance and In-Service Testing (IST) programs.
  • Knowledge of NRC licensing processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working in utility, power generation, or broader energy-sector environments.
  • Well-rounded background spanning nuclear operations, engineering design, program management, and licensing activities.
  • Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License/Certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support Secondary License Renewal (SLR) projects and licensing initiatives for nuclear generating stations.
  • Collaborate with external engineering and nuclear vendors (e.g., Westinghouse) to review and validate technical deliverables.
  • Evaluate engineering analyses, aging management programs, and regulatory documentation for compliance and adequacy.
  • Review site-specific procedures and ensure regulatory and operational requirements are properly incorporated into plant documentation.
  • Perform technical reviews, document validation, and compliance assessments related to nuclear systems and components.
  • Coordinate with station Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), engineering teams, and licensing personnel to obtain technical information and documentation.
  • Support implementation of plant programs including Fire Protection, code compliance, and operational readiness initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with NRC requirements, industry standards, and plant-specific licensing commitments.
  • Assist in program management activities, schedule tracking, and project execution.
