About The Position

Intertek is seeking an Engineer - Military and Aerospace to join their Electrical team in Cortland, New York. This role involves performing testing and evaluations on military and aerospace products according to U.S., Canadian, and other international product standards, writing reports, and communicating with clients. Intertek's Electrical business line has over 100 years of product testing expertise and serves various industries including Medical, Lighting, Renewable Energy, HVACR, Appliances & Electronics, Hazardous Locations, Industrial Equipment, Life Safety & Security, and IT & Telecom Equipment. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • No experience required - recent college grads considered
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license and reliable driving record
  • Microsoft Office expertise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
  • Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate, up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and evaluations on military and aerospace products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product standards.
  • Write reports.
  • Communicate with clients.
  • Read and determine applicability of standards for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Wear appropriate PPE; including work gloves and steel toe shoes.
  • Use proper lifting techniques and equipment to move heavy, oversized samples.
  • Perform testing of products in accordance with standards.
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot environmental chambers.
  • Document testing using data loggers and photographs.
  • Use a schedule to plan testing and chamber usage.
  • Develop, set up, and follow established test plans.
  • Compile test results during testing.
  • Compile data and product description and compose final reports.
  • Submit report to reviewer for final approval.
  • Communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide on-going support to clients as needed.
