Engineer, Manufacturing (Assembly) - 2nd Shift

Summit Polymers, Inc.•Elizabethtown, KY

About The Position

This is hands-on technical work involving assembly of injection-molded plastic parts for automotive interior trim, full center consoles, and kinetic parts such as air-conditioning outlets, cup holders, glove boxes, and bins. The engineer provides technical support and leadership to manufacturing production teams, with a focus on operational excellence. The role supports assembly machines and cells from new product launch through production. It works with product development and corporate manufacturing technical leaders to ensure manufacturability and quality, specify effective and ergonomic equipment, develop standardized work and production-planning materials, monitor machine construction, and validate equipment before shipment. The position also supports packaging and assembly-cell flow-rack development, writes work instructions, leads machine engineering changes, and assists maintenance with preventive-maintenance schedules. In production, the engineer helps improve efficiency, quality, and safety through standardized-work tools, problem solving, and kaizen. The role troubleshoots process and equipment issues, develops project justifications, and conducts process audits. The position typically does not require travel. Other duties may be assigned, and management may change duties and responsibilities. Agreement to complete all required post-hire training is required.
