This is a hybrid role (3 days in office) responsible for testing and certifying fire alarm, access control, and smoke detection systems to UL standards. The role involves working directly with clients, managing certification projects, coordinating testing activities, providing technical guidance, and ensuring timely project completion. Projects may include travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites. The position requires initiating communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services, following up on client contacts, and discussing technical issues, UL procedures, and project costs. The engineer will also resolve client concerns, provide technical assistance, establish appropriate test programs, examine samples for compliance, coordinate laboratory activities, and communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and reports. The role also involves integrating continuous improvement concepts, resolving engineering issues, assisting in the development of UL requirements and special test methods, and potentially representing UL at industry functions. Adherence to the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and security practices is mandatory.
