About The Position

The Digital Workspace Engineer IV is the senior technologist responsible for engineering, securing, and optimizing the company's Microsoft 365-centered digital workplace, with a heavy emphasis on Microsoft Teams, Intune, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and the broader M365 ecosystem. This role designs enterprise standards, leads complex implementations, and acts as the highest-level escalation for collaboration and endpoint management services. The engineer partners closely with Security, Networking, HR, and Business Units to deliver consistent, secure, and high-quality employee experience across locations and remote workers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive IT experience in End User Computing / Digital Workplace / M365 engineering in a mid-to-large corporate environment.
  • Expert-level, hands-on experience with: o Microsoft Teams (governance, policies, meetings, external access, app integrations) o Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager (devices, apps, compliance, Autopilot) o SharePoint Online (sites, permissions, sharing, content services) o Exchange Online (mail flow, policies, O365 groups, security/compliance settings) o Microsoft 365 admin centers and Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Strong PowerShell/scripting abilities for administration and automation of M365 services.
  • Demonstrated experience designing secure, scalable solutions that support hybrid/remote work.
  • Proven experience acting as a highest-level technical escalation in at least one of: Teams, Intune, or Exchange Online.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Teams Phone/Telephony, Teams Rooms, and meeting devices.
  • Experience with on-prem-to-cloud migrations (Exchange, SharePoint, file shares into SPO/OneDrive).
  • Familiarity with VDI/Windows 365/Azure Virtual Desktop for M365 workloads.
  • ITIL Foundation or experience working in an ITIL-based environment.
  • Microsoft certifications such as: o Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert o Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate o Teams Administrator Associate

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical lifecycle (design, implementation, administration, optimization) for Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and OneDrive for Business.
  • Define and enforce governance for Teams (naming, lifecycle, guest access, external sharing, templates, retention).
  • Engineer voice/telephony/meetings capabilities in Teams (policies, devices, rooms) in partnership with network and AV teams.
  • Standardize SharePoint Online architecture (hub sites, permissions, information architecture) to support corporate collaboration.
  • Manage Exchange Online configuration, transport rules, connectors, DLs, resource mailboxes, and compliance features in alignment with security/legal.
  • Champion the use of M365 collaboration features to improve productivity and reduce shadow IT.
  • Architect and maintain Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager as the strategic platform for Windows 10/11, mobile (iOS/Android), and where applicable macOS.
  • Build and maintain device compliance, configuration profiles, Windows Update for Business, app protection policies, and Conditional Access integrations.
  • Develop zero-touch/Autopilot provisioning and self-service device enablement for new hires and device refresh.
  • Package, test, and deploy corporate applications through Intune and/or MECM where coexistence is required.
  • Monitor endpoint health and posture; drive remediation through policy and automation.
  • Integrate M365/Teams/SharePoint/Exchange and Intune with Entra ID (Azure AD) for identity-based access, Conditional Access, MFA, and device-based controls.
  • Implement and maintain DLP, sensitivity labels, retention, and eDiscovery settings in M365 in coordination with Security/Legal.
  • Ensure collaboration services meet corporate, regulatory, and audit requirements (logging, monitoring, change control).
  • Serve as Tier III/IV escalation for complex issues in Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and Intune.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge articles for the service desk and desktop teams.
  • Develop automation (PowerShell, Graph API) to streamline user onboarding, team/site provisioning, license assignments, and reporting.
  • Track and optimize M365 licensing consumption for assigned services.
  • Define and maintain digital workspace standards, baselines, and reference architectures focused on M365-first solutions.
  • Evaluate new M365 features, roadmap items, and releases, and plan structured adoption across the enterprise.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects such as M&A migrations, tenant-to-tenant moves, email/collab consolidations, or endpoint modernization.
