About The Position

The job duties of the Engineer Intern include technical support of the conservation programs administered by Chippewa County Department of Land Conservation and Forest Management; and to provide responsive, courteous and efficient service to County residents and the general public. This is a limited term internship position and requires up to 40 hours per week during a period of 6-7 months for a commitment of 975 hours. This position is seasonal, non-recurring, and limited term which requires up to 40 hours per week during a 6-7 month period May – November 2027 for a commitment of 975 hours.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, biosystems/biological engineering, environmental engineering, agricultural engineering, or other related course of study.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of drafting and surveying preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and materials preferred.
  • Knowledge of CAD, and ArcGIS software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in layout and inspection of construction projects.
  • Perform site topographic surveys.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, reports, and bid documents in CAD software.
  • Perform natural resource inventories and mapping; geologic investigations; and site evaluations.
  • Perform engineering design computations.
  • Assist engineers with review and permitting of agricultural pollution control proposals and urban storm water management proposals.
  • Present educational information at department sponsored educational events.
