About The Position

This person will provide leadership and direction for the Burkville Static Equipment Inspection Program. At its core, this person will strive to ensure that the optimum inspection strategies, based on API and/or internal program standards and policies, are in place and being executed with quality results. Is responsible for 3rd party inspection contractor’s budget, resources, qualifications, productivity, and safety performance. The focus will be to oversee, manage, and provide direction for the inspection program to improve reliability and safety of static equipment (vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, etc.) and piping. Top priority is ensuring that the inspection program meets, or exceeds, the requirements to satisfy multiple regulations i.e. PSM, RMP, BMP, SPCC, RC14001, etc. The Engineer, Maintenance will work closely with Static Equipment Asset Engineer, Maintenance Engineers in the different units, Maintenance Leaders, Reliability Engineers, and Mechanical Contractors.The ideal candidate must have the ability to influence others to ensure the work gets done and the ability to manage a multitude of details is crucial to the success of this individual.

Requirements

  • Must have an Engineering degree. Equivalent work experience and inspection certifications may be considered in lieu of a B.S degree.
  • Must have 5 years experience in an industrial facility
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with operation, technical, and contract maintenance crafts people
  • Must be familiar with the below: Inspection, and repair of static assets (structural steel, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, piping)
  • Must be familiar with the below: Design of static assets (structural steel, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, piping)
  • Must be familiar with the below: P&ID, piping isometrics, and Process Flow Diagrams
  • Possess knowledge of ASME Codes i.e. B31.1, B31.3, Section VIII, etc.
  • Required to obtain API 510 and 570 licenses within 1 year of hire date.
  • Experience with inspection, design and repair of static and fixed assets in a chemical plant environment
  • Be self-motivated and confident to make decisions in areas of personal competency.
  • Must have the ability to effectively multi-task, deal with internal and external auditors and influence unit engineers and managers.

Nice To Haves

  • Should possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and team building skills.
  • Certifications in static equipment codes & standards such as API 510, API 653, API 570, API 579, NACE CIP, etc is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and direction to the site’s 3rd party inspection contractor and other inspectors.
  • Provide support for development of documentation of inspection for piping, tanks, and vessels systems.
  • Lead in determination of inspection frequencies and methodologies, and adjustment of frequencies.
  • Identify enhanced (newer) inspection technologies and/or methods for implementation to improve reliability of the site’s fixed assets.
  • Review, adoption, and implementation of corporate standards and best practices
  • Review of 3rd party inspection reports, including recommendations
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of inspection databases (PSAim) and SAP
  • Assist with risk assessments for inspection deferments
  • Coordinate completion of required inspections with unit resources
  • Ensure required API and federal and state inspection requirements are followed.
  • Work closely with the Static Equipment Asset Engineer
