KCI Technologies is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training to join our Entertainment Engineering team in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. In this role, you will support engineering work involving typical and atypical structures within the entertainment industry, including temporary event and support structures such as concert stages and rigging, theater installations, and outdoor live event structures, as well as permanent structures including entertainment venue renovations, safety evaluations, signage, and theme park structures. Performs work involving typical and atypical plans, investigations, and structures within the Entertainment industry. Projects include temporary event structures (concert stages and rigging, theater rigging, outdoor live event structures) and permanent structures (entertainment venue renovations and safety evaluations, signage, theme park structures). Assignments include but are not limited to: analysis and evaluation of typical and atypical structures, support of design and design development, participation in site visits, preparation of technical letters and reports, and other related engineering tasks requiring knowledge of basic structural principles. Works collaboratively with internal staff and external partners on multidisciplinary design/engineering projects. Reviews input from Project or Technical Managers and makes the necessary adjustments and corrections to work product. Performs work in a timely and effective manner within assigned schedules and budgets. Ability to manage own time effectively while juggling multiple assignments and to communicate proactively with managers and internal project teams regarding progress and potential scheduling conflicts. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while working on multiple projects with varying timelines. Typical workload may include 3+ active projects with turnaround times ranging from days to weeks to months. Ability to apply Structural Engineering fundamentals to non-standard or unconventional structures using practical and creative problem solving. Field experience and ability to work with clients, contractors, and other disciplines is preferred but not required. EIT certification or have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is preferred. Coursework, internship experience, or other training in structural engineering is required. Familiarity with steel design is required; wood and aluminum design is preferred. Experience with structural software modules such as RISA-3D, SAP2000, etc. is preferred.
