About The Position

This entry-level position is responsible for coordinating and supporting engineering activities. The role requires technical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and excellent teamwork skills to be successful. It provides engineering assistance in support of others and applies engineering knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction. The engineer will collaborate in projects within scope, schedule, and cost, under supervision of an engineer licensed in Puerto Rico. They will support and perform assignments in specialized areas requiring basic engineering expertise, and assist and perform engineering tasks and projects associated with a critical or analytical engineering project or a small number of complex projects that require specialized knowledge. The role involves reviewing functional specifications for completeness and considering practical limitations, participating in design activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, and supporting the development and updating of single line diagrams, design drawings, and equipment specifications, under supervision of a PR PE. The position also includes supporting QA/QC design review, providing basic technical support to field and construction groups, utilizing engineering processes and standards, and providing reporting, including presentations to work groups and management. The position may be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
  • Zero to two years of professional engineering experience.
  • EIT Certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.
  • Interpersonal and relationship development skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to resolve engineering issues.

Nice To Haves

  • 3.2 GPA or higher.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Working knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments.
  • Experience in utility industry trade organizations.
  • Experience with MS Office, 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
