About The Position

Under general supervision, the main duty of the Engineer in Charge (EIC) is to ensure the safe and effective deployment of the Skycam system through sound processes and operations in both the shop and the field. This role acts as an on-site manager for equipment and crew at a particular event, serving as a point of contact for other crews/EICs in the field. The EIC interfaces directly with the client, venue operator, or other crew leaders to ensure safe and proper installation, provides guidance and mentoring to the Skycam crew, and is capable of performing field repairs and directing crew members in setup and operation. In the SkyCam Shop, under the direction of the CTO, the EIC is responsible for adequate testing, preparation, repair, maintenance, kitting, and deployment of SkyCam systems. This includes providing manual labor and trade skills for shop maintenance, organization, and system management in an industrial setting. The EIC must be familiar with the operation of all necessary tools and the various components required to assemble and rig the system. They work under the direction of the CTO regarding system deployment and maintenance/repair, and interface with the CTO on engineering and shop operations as they pertain to field operations and safety. The role involves training EICs, E2s, Riggers, Pilots, and Operators both on job sites and at the Fort Worth facility, managing and participating in site surveys, and being on call for field trouble issues, coordinating with the CTO as required. While on client job sites, responsibilities include equipment setup and operation, crew interfacing with client and venue personnel, equipment field repairs, safe operation of equipment, completing tech reports for each job, and reporting equipment issues and recommendations to the CTO. Updates to site surveys are also provided as needed. When not in the field, the EIC supports shop operations, performing general maintenance, testing, and system prep, and may also be involved in R&D and design as assigned. Participation in various meetings, including staff, operational, and organizational meetings, as well as client-based conference calls, is also part of the role. Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in media, broadcasting, production industry.
  • Skilled in the use of computers.
  • Electrically and mechanically inclined, proficient with hand tools and electrical test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possesses good analytical and creative skills.
  • Strong communications skills and eagerness to collaborate with different people.
  • Comfort with working in a rapidly changing environment and open to new ideas.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
  • Extensive domestic and international travel; must possess or able to obtain US Passport.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Ability to maintain positive attitude and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently & in a group setting and demonstrate good judgment skills.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Acts as on-site manager for equipment and crew at a particular event, and a point of contact for other crews/EICs in the field.

  • Capable of field repairs and directing other crew members with the setup and operation of the equipment.
  • Works in the SkyCam Shop under direction of the CTO to adequate test, prepare, repair and maintain, kit, and deploy SkyCam systems.
  • Provides manual labor and trade skills to include shop maintenance, organization, and system management in an industrial setting.
  • Works under the direction of the CTO regarding the deployment of the system and the maintenance and repair of the systems.
  • Interfaces with CTO on matters of engineering and shop operations as they directly pertain to field operations and safety.
  • Trains EICs, E2s, Riggers, Pilots and Operators both on job sites and at the Fort Worth facility.
  • Manages and participates in site surveys.
  • On call for field trouble issues, coordinating with the CTO as required.
  • Equipment setup and operation while on client job sites.
  • Crew Interfacing with client and venue personnel while on client job sites.
  • Equipment field repairs as directed by the Director of Engineering while on client job sites.
  • Safe operation of equipment (weather, equipment breakdowns, etc.) while on client job sites.
  • Complete Tech report for each job.
  • Report and directly communicate all equipment issues and recommendations to the CTO.
  • Provide updates to site surveys as needed.
  • Supports operations in the shop and reports to the Fort Worth facility when not in the field/off-site.
  • General maintenance, testing and system prep in the shop.
  • Other duties might include R&D, design etc. as assigned.
  • Participates in various meetings, as required, such as staff, operational and organizational meetings.
  • Participate on client based conference calls.
  • Performs other duties as required.
