About The Position

The Engineer III plays a critical role in engineering solutions supporting Ross Merchandising systems delivery, collaborating with functional business teams and other IT teams to deliver large transformation programs for the Merchandising domain. Lead the translation of business needs into system requirements and drive technical delivery with ownership of the overall IT technical solution and vendor platforms. This role requires a good understanding of retail business processes and the ability to create robust, scalable solutions. The base salary range for this role is $134,300 - $229,400. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education, industry certifications and relevant experience
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on retail merchandising systems. application design and development, preferably in the retail industry, with a minimum 3 years’ experience leading projects that involved cloud migration or business transformation.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in building full stack web applications using modern technologies with expertise in writing applications using technologies/frameworks like Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Node JS, Python, Microservices and Azure APIs.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading projects that involved cloud migration or business transformation, including conducting and participating in design and code reviews
  • Proven experience in implementing retail merchandising systems using Oracle and PLM/Sourcing/Compliance tools such as Bamboo Rose or similar solutions.
  • Experience with CI/CD and ALM tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence
  • Having proficiency in AI coding using tools such as GITHUB Co-Pilot, Cursor-AI, Claude-code
  • Conceptual and practical understanding of IT Infrastructure, products, and services, such as application security, networking protocols, encryption, and other technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and acquire new technologies in the areas of web & mobile application development
  • Experience with database design and development, modeling, including SQL and NoSQL databases. Expert SQL knowledge required. Familiarity with ProC highly desired.

  • Ability to work in a group setting and independently

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable IT solutions for our retail merchandising platforms.
  • Proven success in migrating legacy systems to modern cloud-based architectures, with hands-on expertise in Azure PAAS services, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Event Hub, Azure Spring Apps, Azure Container Apps and Azure Front Door.
  • Have in-depth experience in iterative project delivery (Agile) and Retail merchandising business acumen. Oversee the technical aspects of projects, including planning, execution, quality assurance and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess technical feasibility, translate them into a well-architected solution, and drive project timelines.
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and security by following best practices and proactive monitoring.
  • Contribute to modernization projects by providing guidance on overall design and technical direction, taking the lead in establishing guidelines and approaches. Own the retail system data model, data dictionaries and provide input into data modeling.
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies and retail industry trends to drive system improvements and optimizations.
