Requirements

  • Performs work requiring the basic skills in most of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, HV AC, carpentry, paint/wall cover, locksmith, in addition to performing other general maintenance duties.
  • Polite, friendly, and helpful to all guests, management and fellow employees
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, detailed oriented and proactive in fast paced environment
  • Committed to guest satisfaction, service excellence, and teamwork
  • Strong communicator ensuring issues are addressed promptly and effectively
  • Promotes and applies teamwork skill at all times
  • Has basic knowledge of hotel's plumbing, heating/boiler, electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning, fire safety, sprinkler, lighting and communication systems
  • Previous hotel maintenance experience preferred.
  • Basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing knowledge required.
  • Strong mechanical background with minimal 1-2 years’ hands on experience in maintenance related activity.
  • Ability to regularly push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally with team members, leaders and guests required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Florida Driver License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance requests in guest rooms, meeting rooms, food & beverage outlets, and public spaces.
  • Perform general repairs, minor setups for hotel functions, and light bulb replacements.
  • Maintain and organize tools and supplies in storerooms.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and guests regarding maintenance status.
  • Assist with inspections and monitor building systems including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and fire safety.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and hotel procedures, especially in occupied guest areas.
  • Support energy conservation efforts and help monitor waste.
  • Keep the engineering shop clean and equipment in good condition.
  • Follow emergency procedures and respond appropriately during incidents.
  • Use tools, equipment, materials, and chemicals safely and efficiently according to manufacturer’s instructions and MSDS requirements.
  • Check HotSoS and maintenance request lists daily for work assignments at the beginning of and throughout each shift.
  • Provide supervision and training to subordinate engineering positions.
  • Respond to trouble, complaint, and maintenance request calls throughout the hotel and grounds as directed by the supervisor.
  • Work with hazardous materials and chemicals as required in the performance of duties.
  • Communicate the status of job assignments and maintenance requests to the supervisor.
  • Notify the supervisor or dispatcher upon completion of work assignments.
  • Comply with hotel and department standards, policies, and rules.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support departmental operations.
