About The Position

The GN&T Network Security team is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Engineer to join the Security Defense organization. The Defense teams are responsible for owning the security lifecycle and effectiveness across the Core, Edge, and Access networks and all of the systems and network functions within GN&T. In this role, you will focus on Enterprise Access and help drive the discovery and identity of all network assets in your respective area of responsibility. You will be expected apply existing routing, switching, security and network architecture knowledge to understand asset function, safeguard said assets through continuous monitoring and proactive threat detections, and improve the security hygiene by implementing the Network Security Fundamentals (Access Management, Situational Awareness, Configuration Hardening, Vulnerability).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Experience with networks, 4G/5G wireless network functions or virtualization technologies like Openstack and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Bash Shell scripting, Python or relevant scripting and automation knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • Experience configuring and managing Routers, Switches and Firewalls
  • Experience with Splunk or other data analysis tools.
  • Experience with multi vendor platforms and network architectures
  • Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
  • Knowledge of technical product and systems development lifecycle.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering results.
  • Effective written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Discovering, identifying, and auditing inventory of all network assets and asset information (model, version, etc) in your respective area of responsibility.
  • Utilizing existing expertise of routing, switching and network architecture to and build a deep understanding of the network assets and the roadmap to quickly assess the impact of vulnerabilities and identify End-of-Life/End-of-Support hardware/software.
  • Assisting with developing a baseline of normal operations and implement threat detections to alert of deviations to proactively identify potential cyber threats.
  • Leading and assisting daily operations with team members and platform owners as it pertains to network security of owned assets including running scans, monitoring and creating dashboards and utilize automation and scripting where appropriate.
  • Assisting in developing incident response protocols to quickly identify, contain, and resolve network security incidents and threats.
  • Understanding the current state of cybersecurity and improve the security posture through the implementation of the Network Security Fundamentals (Access Management, Situational Awareness, Configuration Hardening, Vulnerability Mitigation).
  • Owning and accounting for the network security scorecard and help drive increased maturity, visibility, and subject-matter expertise.
  • Ensuring that the security controls planned for the Networks are operating effectively.
