This position is for a Transmission Protection Settings or Controls Engineer to support substation projects across the Duke Energy Indiana Territory. The Protection & Controls (P&C) Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of protection, control, SCADA, and automation systems associated with Duke Energy's transmission substations and switchyards. This role provides engineering support for capital, maintenance, emergent, and grid modernization projects throughout the transmission system. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting projects from concept development through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout. The role will include assignments in either protection engineering or controls engineering. The Engineer III position solves complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied. The Senior Engineer is expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. Employees in the Senior Engineer position are fully competent in the use of concepts and procedures. The Senior Engineer identifies problems, develops solutions and takes action to resolve.
