About The Position

The Engineer II role focuses on improving distribution service reliability by evaluating high SAIDI/CAIDI circuits and developing enhancement projects. This position involves preparing project proposals, engineering designs, specifications, studies, and cost estimates. The Engineer II will apply technical expertise to solve complex engineering and operational problems, coordinate and direct small projects, and guide team members. Responsibilities also include evaluating job requests, gathering data, performing calculations, managing project activities, developing organizational standards, and interpreting regulatory codes. Staying current with industry advancements through conferences and seminars is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or Professional Engineer (PE) certification in addition to five (5) years of engineering experience or an Advanced degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Completion of the state Engineer-In-Training is required to hold the Engineer II title.
• Knowledge of power system studies and electrical distribution systems.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate complex electrical concepts effectively to customers.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate high SAIDI/CAIDI circuits to identify and develop reliability improvement projects that enhance distribution service reliability.
• Prepare and present project proposals to the reliability team.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of engineering designs, specifications, standards, studies, cost estimates and the development of sound technical recommendations.
• Apply a high level of technical expertise to solve engineering and operational problems.
• Coordinate and direct small projects and tasks, including development of work scope, budget, and schedule.
• Direct and assist team members, both company employees and outside contractors, in the completion of their work.
• Coordinate input from, and participation with, various departments within the organization as needed to meet project objectives.
• Provide technical expertise to one or multiple project teams for the evaluation of, and resolution to, engineering problems and designs involving various engineering disciplines.
• Evaluate job requests to determine purpose, scope and requirements, including assessment of alternative methods and review of regulatory codes.
• Gather data, perform calculations and prepare designs to develop technically sound conclusions, recommendations and results.
• Manage and coordinate all activities leading to the successful completion of tasks and small projects including scoping, selection of consultants, cost estimates, and permitting.
• Develop organization standards, specifications and procedures governing selection, design, application and operation of materials and systems.
• Interpret state and federal codes, industry standards and organization specifications for clients.
• Participate in and provide technical input to review of proposed changes in regulatory requirements affecting codes and standards.
• Stay abreast of the latest changes, trends and technological advancements in the industry through attendance at conferences and seminars.
