About The Position

This role is responsible for inspecting and maintaining all operating systems and components of the hotel to ensure they are functioning properly, efficiently, and safely. The Engineer II will respond to guest issues reported by the front desk, perform preventative maintenance and repairs on various systems including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing, as well as building components and equipment. Additionally, the role involves maintaining the grounds, performing painting, carpentry, and plumbing tasks, and ensuring all storage and mechanical areas are kept clean, safe, and secure. The Engineer II must perform duties with minimal disruption to guests and keep the Chief Engineer informed of any issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in mechanical/electrical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of building components, furniture, fixtures, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to perform painting, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Understanding of safety and security procedures in a hotel environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with the front desk and guests.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to perform job duties with a minimum of disruption to the guest.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with preventative maintenance scheduling.
  • Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance.
  • Certification in relevant trade skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects all operating systems and components of the hotel to ensure they are operating properly, efficiently and safely, as directed by Chief Engineer.
  • Promptly responds to front desk reports of guest problems or concerns, informs the front desk when action is complete so the front desk can perform “Courtesy Call Back” telephone calls.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, or makes recommendations for repairs, as assigned: all mechanical/electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems, all building components and furniture, fixtures and equipment.
  • Maintains the grounds daily, including landscaping and parking areas in a clean, neat, safe and attractive manner.
  • Performs the “PM” schedule on a timely basis, ensuring that all elements of the guest room meet the standards of the brand.
  • Performs painting, carpentry, plumbing, emergency carpet cleaning and other jobs as necessary.
  • Maintains all storage areas, shops and mechanical areas in a clean, safe and secure manner, reporting to the Chief Engineer any corrective actions that need to be taken.
  • Keeps Chief Engineer promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance so that prompt corrective action can be taken.
  • Perform job duties with a minimum of disruption of the guest.
