About The Position

At LG Energy Solution Arizona, Inc., the Engineer II – Supplier Quality Assurance will play a key role in ensuring battery materials and components meet established quality standards for reliability, usability, and performance. This role supports manufacturing quality assurance by conducting supplier-related failure investigations and root cause analysis using appropriate analytical methods, technical skills, and equipment. The Engineer II works closely with suppliers, manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to address quality issues, support corrective actions, and help ensure timely resolution of supplier-related concerns.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field required.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 standards.
  • Knowledge of Minitab, Six Sigma, and 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support resolution of operational abnormalities and coordinate with headquarters and global sites outside of local time zones.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, 8D, and 5 Why problem-solving methodologies.
  • Understanding of inspection equipment and techniques, root cause failure analysis, capability studies, and statistical analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements, and process audit parameters.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, presentations, and graphical analysis using Minitab and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, and self-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience in high-volume production, Control Plans, PFMEAs, and process controls preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Train production operators on inspection procedures in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Analyze samples from in-line returns and field returns to identify potential component-related defects and communicate findings to headquarters as needed.
  • Conduct process investigations to identify root causes of component or product quality issues and support improvements to process stability and capability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and In-Line or Finished Quality to address supplier and component quality issues.
  • Maintain laboratory and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of inspection and test results.
  • Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems to support consistent product quality and identify potential quality risks.
  • Conduct inspections and root cause analysis for nonconforming raw materials, components, and finished products.
  • Maintain worksite cleanliness in accordance with 5S3R standards: 5S — Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; 3R — Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container.
