About The Position

This role involves leading complex stormwater projects and contributing to the improvement of Fort Wayne's waterways. It is for bold, collaborative problem-solvers who thrive on results and innovation. The position requires technical skills to lead projects from planning to construction, manage programs, policies, and budgets, and collaborate with various stakeholders to protect waterways and neighborhoods.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Environmental, Civil, or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ years experience, including 5+ in green infrastructure or landscape architecture.
  • Proven project leadership and team management.
  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Adobe Illustrator.
  • Project management, stormwater modeling, regulatory compliance.
  • Valid Indiana Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Municipal utility experience preferred.
  • National Floodplain Manager Certification (or within 12 months).
  • Indiana Pesticide & Fertilizer Applicator Certification Categories 5 & 6 (or within 12 months).
  • Indiana Professional Engineer License.

Responsibilities

  • Lead stormwater and sewer projects from planning to construction.
  • Manage programs, policies, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with City departments, agencies, and the community to protect waterways and neighborhoods.
  • Plan and manage watershed, floodplain, and Green Infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee capital projects: budgeting, permitting, design, construction, and post-construction monitoring.
  • Develop policies, strategic plans, KPIs, and service standards.
  • Represent the City in meetings and with stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor team members, managing workflow and performance.
