About The Position

Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. The company is located in Rock Spring, GA, and operates on 3 shifts with 400 employees, with three main manufacturing departments: Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. It is part of Astemo, Inc., which has 90,000 employees worldwide. As a Process Engineer, you will lead projects focused on continuous improvement for the plant and strategic cost reduction. Your role involves planning, devising, and executing measures to achieve maximum results with minimum cost, and your involvement is crucial for successful new model launches, satisfying SQCD (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in process engineering or a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Familiarity with process mapping and improvement tools, such as Value Stream Mapping and 5S.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of team members, be responsible for the safety of our equipment and work on safety measures as a top priority.
  • To avoid quality issues with equipment and system provided, develop, plan, and conduct a thorough technical validation in advance.
  • Clarify a target value and a deadline for a project and be responsible for its results.
  • For each project, ensure team members fully understand its importance.
  • Be responsible for the project’s results by managing its progress and addressing the gap.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and maximize the outcomes.
  • Identify a root cause and implement the targeted measures, by providing required engineering support.
  • Cooperate with a new model and new project and move forward with launch, satisfying SQCD.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in continuous improvement, contributing to the integration of new knowledge into our processes.
  • Support creating a month end report based on a data analysis, visualizing the progress of a project.
  • Comply with safety, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices within the continuous improvement department.
  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance teams to ensure that machining processes meet established quality standards.
  • Participate in statistical process control (SPC) activities and support root cause analysis for quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production flow and on-time delivery.
  • Proactively communicate any challenges or potential delays that may impact project timelines.
  • Support the development of project plans and timelines to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Develop and implement measures to increase efficiency, productivity, and throughput in engineering operations.
  • Continuously monitor and identify opportunities for improvement in resource utilization.
  • Provide regular updates to the Process Engineer - Lead on work progress, key metrics, and process improvement initiatives within the Machining department.
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineer – Lead to gather and analyze data for reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineer – Lead to define, track, and analyze key metrics related to cost savings initiatives, process improvements, and productivity gains.
  • Contribute to the development of measurement frameworks and systems to collect accurate data on key metrics.
  • Support the Process Engineer – Lead in reporting on key metrics and providing insights to leadership.
  • Ensure accurate recording of all savings ideas, improvement projects, and productivity metrics to track achievements and progress.
