About The Position

This position designs and initiates fairly complex layouts for projects, develops scopes of work, and writes specifications for proposals. A degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This person should be capable of providing effective project management for medium sized projects from inception through construction and installation. On assigned projects, Engineer II shall organize the design, follow the specifications, coordinate procurement, and achieve the company’s objectives regarding capacity, operability, economics, and timelines. Involved in the selection of approved contractors will be part of the decision about which systems are best suited for a specific application and how they are to be installed. Additional duties and responsibilities include Familiarity on OSHA regulations by working with safety coordinators; understanding and working within Tyson’s safety regulations; providing engineering design for new projects and utility systems; coordinating project design work including planning, designing, implementation, final walk through etc. This position will interact with other engineering disciplines and maintain current project knowledge of project cost and assume responsibility for project cost management. Engineer II will consult with accounting personnel relative to project accounting procedures and project costs. This person will also interact with and coordinate project activities with all levels of Operations and Engineering management.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field or equivalent engineering experience.
  • 1+ years’ applicable engineering experience.
  • Knowledge and use of computer programs (AutoCad), spreadsheets, database, and scheduling programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of working on multi-faceted medium sized projects while requiring limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget while achieving company objectives.
  • Knowledge of Process Engineering disciplines, concepts, practices, and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Food industry experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Projects exposure preferred.
