About The Position

Toyota’s Powertrain Casting Engineering Department is seeking a Casting Engineer to support the TMNA PE Casting Engineering Department and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Tennessee (TMMTN) in Jackson, Tennessee. The role’s primary responsibility is to establish capital budgets for major powertrain projects; set equipment and die specifications; follow ordered items through delivery; set process parameters; lead adjustment and quality confirmation trials; and lead product-defect countermeasure activities. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and aims to provide the manufacturing site with equipment, tooling, and processes that meet production objectives at the lowest cost. It is an onsite role, and the selected candidate is expected to live within commuting distance of Jackson, TN. The role supports existing vehicle powertrain work, including pre-production preparation for aluminum cylinder blocks and hybrid transmission cases and housings, as well as BEV development, including planning and pre-production preparation for BEV STEP 3 e-Axle cases and housings and suspension members (SOP approximately 2027). Projects can span 12–24 months, cover planning and budget development, equipment and die procurement, equipment installation, and casting trials leading to SOP, and typically have budgets of $5 million to $45 million. The engineer studies TMC-based processes and develops North American operation drawings, supports related activities such as shikumi development and hoshin objectives, and manages daily project punch lists. The engineer learns and applies the Toyota Business Practice method of problem solving and leads pre-production project groups, including scheduling meetings, leading equipment installation contractors, reviewing materials, and building consensus.
