The Congestion Management Section of the Traffic Management Unit of the Transportation Mobility and Safety Division is responsible for providing traffic analysis and operations expertise for State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) projects, development projects, and other congestion management corridor studies on the state system. This position serves as a Congestion Management Design Engineer, located at 750 N. Greenfield Parkway, Garner 27529. This position reports to a Congestion Management Regional Engineer and will work primarily in one region. This position is also expected to assist the MSTA group in performing and reviewing traffic studies for schools. This position is responsible for performing traffic capacity analysis, engineering analyses, reviews, investigations and evaluation work in all disciplines of traffic engineering. This includes complex capacity analyses, planning, traffic efficiency, design, access, safety, highway encroachments, and preparing a broad range of technical and complex traffic system evaluation reports. This may involve TIP projects, development traffic impact studies, and school operations studies. This position will support the Regional Engineer and Project Engineer in reviewing consultant work. This position will also support MSTA project engineers for school studies as needed.
