About The Position

At Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, unforgettable guest experiences depend on more than what happens on stage. Behind the scenes, our Engineering team keeps the entire property running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. As an Engineer I, you'll support the daily maintenance and operational upkeep of the hotel while building valuable hands-on skills across multiple areas of facilities and engineering. From responding to guest requests to supporting preventive maintenance, you'll play an important role in keeping the hotel ready to rock. Requirements

  • Previous general labor, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired.
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools and general maintenance is a plus.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the property for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely use ladders and basic hand tools.
  • Enjoy working with your hands and are interested in developing maintenance and repair skills.
  • Have basic mechanical aptitude and are comfortable using tools.
  • Eager to learn from experienced professionals and grow your technical knowledge.
  • Communicate clearly and work well as part of a team.
  • Follow instructions carefully and take pride in completing tasks efficiently.
  • Dependable and committed to excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Bring a positive attitude and a service-first mindset to every task.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding service by assisting with maintenance tasks that help create a comfortable and seamless guest experience.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs under supervision, including changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and completing minor paint touch-ups.
  • Assist experienced Engineers with preventive maintenance throughout the property.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to basic guest maintenance requests.
  • Learn alongside experienced Engineers while developing skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Follow established safety protocols and learn hotel emergency procedures.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, checklists, and other records as directed.
  • Assist with exterior and property maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Jump in wherever needed to support the Engineering team and keep the hotel running smoothly.
