About The Position
The Engineer I, R&D Technology is responsible for performing research and testing related to R&D projects. This position requires a very developed technical background with the ability to integrate software, firmware, mechanical, electrical, and imaging technology.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in engineering field
- 0+ years of experience and ability to learn various computer operating systems, computer programming languages and environments, and data analysis software used in nuclear, electrical, and mechanical engineering fields.
- Maintain Railroad Certifications
- Self-starting individual that can work both independently and within team
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Energy and enthusiasm
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze positive and negative aspects of competing technologies or solutions
- Grow industry expertise through trade show attendance, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications
- Generate new research ideas in line with company growth areas
- Work in local and remote locations including research facilities, field offices, and railroad environments
- Conduct all tests in accordance with company and railroad safety operating procedures
- Assess system performance, prepare written and oral reports, optimize accordingly and make recommendations for future enhancements
