About The Position

Idaho Power is seeking an Engineer I, II, or Senior to join their Customer Relations and Energy Efficiency Programs team in Boise, Idaho. This role is crucial in providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy to communities in Idaho and Oregon. The position is based in downtown Boise but offers flexible schedules and up to 40% remote work. Relocation assistance may be provided. The engineer will focus on encouraging cost-effective energy savings for commercial and industrial customers by investigating new efficient technologies and evaluating various mechanical, electrical, thermal, and building systems. This includes planning and leading projects, recommending systems, performing energy analysis, evaluating progress, and managing budgets and timelines.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution OR Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from a non-ABET accredited institution and a PE license
Engineer I: 0 - 2 years related experience
Engineer II: 2 or more years of related experience
Senior Engineer: 6 years of related engineering experience OR 5 years of related engineering experience plus PE or advanced engineering degree, and 3 years in the area of expertise
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Knowledge of general engineering principles
Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and energy efficiency, commercial and industrial processes and facilities and their business environment
Knowledge of mechanical system energy analysis tools and programs
Knowledge of energy codes and industry standards
Knowledge of energy-efficient technologies
Knowledge of rotating machines such as compressors, fans, pumps, and motors
Knowledge of thermal systems such as refrigeration systems, chillers, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, compressors, hydraulic, and HVAC systems
Knowledge of conveyance and process systems such as drinking water and wastewater treatment
Knowledge of industrial system and commercial building control systems
Knowledge of harmonic compliance as it relates to installation of energy-efficient equipment
Skills in troubleshooting operational systems
Skills in gathering, organizing, and analyzing project data
Skills in measuring and evaluating data analysis techniques and trends

Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports and give effective internal and external presentations

Responsibilities

Plan and lead energy efficiency projects, assignments, and technical investigations
Recommend energy efficiency systems and action schemes
Perform energy analysis of mechanical systems, including calculating or modeling process or building system elements
Evaluate progress and results, recommending changes in procedures
Exercise moderate technical judgment in decision-making and independent action
Be responsible for budgeting, financial accountability, and timelines on assigned projects and programs
Model, evaluate, and analyze mechanical and electrical systems for planning, recommendation, and configuration of energy-efficient equipment for commercial and industrial processes and buildings
Utilize and create energy analysis tools
Review operations reports and determine whether process and building system operations were proper
Troubleshoot and make corrections to energy analysis and systems
Measure and verify energy-efficient systems and remedial action schemes
Act as a liaison between other departments and organizations
Ensure compliance with guidance regarding cost effectiveness and regulatory requirements
Utilize industry and discipline-related knowledge to interpret and comply with industry codes and standards
