About The Position

Plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. The position is in the O49 Facility Program Management Office. Selected candidate will be responsible for Leading shipbuilding teams and Facilities Value Streams in defining project goals and requirements. Creating documents that articulate these goals and requirements that then serve as the basis of design for the projects. Guiding the project team in defining the project delivery process best suited for a particular project and ensure compliance with best industry practices in the consultant and constructor selection and contractual process. Administering conceptual design and estimation efforts through the use of specialized consultants that meet the established goals and requirements. Monitoring and reviewing design documents for compliance with project goals and requirements. The candidate should possess project management, systems engineering, organizational and interpersonal skills and be familiar with requirements management, configuration management, cost management, and risk management principles. Effective communication and customer relation skills is required with extensive experience in creating documents that clearly and creatively convey concepts, expectations, schedules, and serve as the foundation for coordinating teams in project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
