About The Position

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. This role involves technical expertise, leadership, planning, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal skills, decision-making, and business awareness. The position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering/technology from an ABET-accredited program, with varying years of experience required for different levels (Associate, Engineer, Senior, Principal). Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam is preferred for the Associate level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering/technology from an ABET-accredited program (exceptions may be approved).
  • For Engineer/Engineering Technologist: Typically requires 2+ years of related experience.
  • For Engineer/Engineering Technologist Senior: Typically requires 4+ years of related experience.
  • For Engineer/Engineering Technologist Principal: Typically requires 8+ years of related experience.
  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering/technology may also satisfy the educational requirement.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering/ Technology is preferred; however, candidates with an Engineering degree will also be considered.
  • ABET accreditation is preferred for Engineer/Engineering Technologist and above.
  • An acceptable alternative to an ABET-accredited degree for Engineer/Engineering Technologist and above: a non-ABET bachelor's degree in electrical engineering/ technology combined with a master's degree or PhD in electrical Engineering/Technology from a university that offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate Engineering Technology program.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is strongly encouraged but not required for Principal level.

Nice To Haves

  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam in preparation for future licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred for the Associate level.
  • Active participation in professional and business organizations is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Perform entry-level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge.
  • Solve well-defined problems or provide analysis with guidance from higher-level engineers.
  • Assist higher-level engineers in handling well-defined portions of more complex problems and analyses.
  • Coordinate work activities of others as required to resolve routine engineering tasks.
  • Monitor project status and recommend action accordingly.
  • Prepare cost estimates using established standards.
  • Apply basic techniques to perform analysis associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.
  • Assist and participate in the preparation of reports and technical papers.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and present ideas clearly.
  • Contribute to team decision-making.
  • Apply economic analysis techniques in problem solving.
  • Pursue effective ways to protect and enhance the environment while providing reliable electricity at a competitive cost.
