About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking an Engineer - Energy/Safety to join their Electrical team in Lake Forest, California. This role involves performing testing and evaluation on various products according to U.S., Canadian, and international product safety standards. The position includes writing reports, communicating with clients, and potentially conducting on-site evaluations under the guidance of a senior engineer. The role has a potential for 25% travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • No experience required - New Grads welcome to apply!
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate - up to 25%

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
  • Working knowledge in electrical circuit design/analysis principles
  • Semiconductor experience
  • Prior project management experience
  • Experience directly related to product safety testing or certification
  • Demonstrated experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards (i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC)
  • Familiar with EV charger, inverter, energy storage and other similar appliances

Responsibilities

  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Complete preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off site.
  • Develop, set up, and follow established test plans.
  • Compile test results during construction review and testing.
  • Compile data and product description and type final report using established report shell.
  • Submit report to reviewer for final approval.
  • Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Within policy guidelines, identify, properly document, and recommend engineering judgments.
