About The Position

Sensient Technologies is seeking an Engineer to support capital improvement initiatives at their Amboy facility. This position will work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and successfully execute facility projects. The ideal candidate will combine strong engineering knowledge with effective project coordination and management skills. This position will be based in Hoffman Estates Il, with 2-3 days travel to Amboy Il.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment, with experience in the food or chemical industry considered beneficial.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects, responsibilities, and assignments at the same time while effectively determining priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, leadership, plant personnel, and outside contractors.
  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently, think logically, and take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and evaluate project bids while reviewing engineering details to confirm that proposed work meets established objectives and requirements across departments.
  • Maintain project timelines and monitor spending to ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
  • Take ownership of capital projects from beginning to completion, including defining project scope, coordinating engineering activities, overseeing implementation, and managing overall project execution.
  • Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for engineering improvements and determine which new projects, procedures, or operating parameters can increase production capacity, enhance quality and safety, or reduce operating costs.
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing process issues at the Amboy facility by assisting with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, including identifying factors that may contribute to first-pass quality issues.
