Lilly is investing $4.5 billion to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. This facility, the first of its kind, combines research and manufacturing to optimize processes, increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact. The Engineer - Automation Engineering (AGV/AMR) will be part of the Automation Engineering Department at the Foundry, providing support for the site's Autonomous Guided Vehicle (AGV) and Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) fleets. These systems are crucial for moving materials, intermediates, and finished goods across manufacturing, warehouse, and utility areas. Process automation is fundamental to ensuring a successful facility startup and ongoing manufacturing operations. The role involves ensuring reliable and compliant automated material handling systems, mentoring employees, and serving as a key technical resource. This includes partnering with vendors, system integrators, warehouse operations, and other automation disciplines to implement the AGV/AMR fleet management strategy. During the project delivery and startup phases (expected 2025-2028), the role will be dynamic, requiring collaboration, creativity, and resilience to support project delivery, build the organization, implement systems and business processes for GMP operations, and establish the site culture.
