About The Position
The Engineer Apprentice supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Assists engineering teams in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid state driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
- Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneeling, lift and/or drive
- Strong customer service skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice To Haves
- 1+ year of experience as a Building Engineer or equivalent facilities technical trade
- Worked within lab and cleanroom environments (recommended)
- Experience working within high stress/demand environments
- Trade school, union training, military service or college is desirable
Responsibilities
- Assist with logs and file tracking, where appropriate, to include, but not limited to: chemical consumption logs and other equipment or operation inspection logs specific to the property
- Assisting with existing system operation and performing preventative maintenance
- Support the Lead Engineer and Building Engineers, to ensure quality services are completed on schedule
- Assist in implementation of system specific Standard Operating Procedures(SOP)
- Assist with critical system shutdown and start-up
- Provide prompt and courteous response to tenant requests within the guidelines set forth by JLL
- Maintain ethical, professional, and courteous relations with contractors and tenants
- Demonstrate full competency in all current JLL and property emergency procedures including but not limited to: Assist with directing building occupants with evacuations, Assist with bomb searches, Assist with life safety system alarms, Assist emergency authorities and response teams
- Utilize fire alarm and life safety systems at assigned property and make adjustments and changes as needed
- Adhere to all JLL and property policies and procedures and perform all duties in a safe manner and help ensure compliance with city, state and federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards, and regulations.
- Actively participate in required training activities and seminars
- Apply knowledge of how each of the components in the building systems relates operationally to one another and modify and/or install new system(s) as needed
- Identify potential causes for failure of a system(s) and prioritize repair process
- Ability to efficiently handle and coordinate multiple task assignments
- Interact with employees, visitors, and contractors with poise and diplomacy
- Maintain calm demeanor in emergency situations
