This role involves Humanoid Robotics & Strategic Development, Automation & Robotics Engineering, Project & Stakeholder Management, and Operational Impact. The engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining an OEM partner network for humanoid robotics, driving strategy development, and leading the vertical integration of humanoid robots into production environments. They will also develop robotic systems, program and optimize industrial and collaborative robots, oversee the design and development of advanced robotic systems, and plan and execute Proofs-of-Concept (PoCs). Additionally, the role requires leading cross-functional teams, collaborating with global manufacturing technology networks, and delivering automation solutions that create measurable improvements in operational efficiency, quality, and production flexibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Verified specialist proficiency in humanoid robotic systems, encompassing both hardware components and software architectures.
  • Demonstrated competence with advanced automation technologies: COBOTs, industrial robots, AGVs, AMRs, and general-purpose robotics.
  • Practical experience delivering automation projects end-to-end — from concept and planning through to machine integration and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated competence in robotics‑related software frameworks and programming languages, including ROS/ROS2, Python, C++, Java, PLC programming, Profinet, OPC UA, and REST APIs.
  • Knowledge of LLMs and Reinforcement Learning in the context of robotics and automation.
  • Working knowledge of control algorithms including Inverse Kinematics (IK), Forward Kinematics (FK), and Adaptive Control.
  • Familiarity with 2D and 3D computer vision systems and their integration in automated environments.
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain an OEM partner network for humanoid robotics, and drive strategy development.
  • Lead the vertical integration of humanoid robots into production environments, from pilot concepts through to full-scale implementation.
  • Develop robotic systems and adapting them to real production tasks and conditions.
  • Program, configure, and optimize industrial and collaborative robots across production applications.
  • Oversee the design, development, and integration of advanced robotic systems, ensuring technical robustness and production readiness.
  • Plan and execute Proofs-of-Concept (PoCs), managing the full cycle from initial validation through to integration into live production environments.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with external partners, research institutions, and technology suppliers to deliver automation projects on time and at quality.
  • Collaborate closely with Schaeffler's global manufacturing technology networks across divisions, business units, and regions as well as central functions including Purchasing, IT, Maintenance, and Quality.
  • Deliver automation solutions that create measurable improvements in operational efficiency, quality, and production flexibility.
  • Continuously identify and close gaps between automation potential and actual deployment, contributing directly to Schaeffler's targets.
