About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure's mission is to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy and quality of life by providing and supporting sustainable infrastructure that allows for the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and government services to the public. The department manages over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways and is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of hospitals, schools, and other government buildings. The Construction Branch specifically manages the Department’s highway and bridge construction program, including oversight of paving, chip seal, culvert, and bridge contracts. The Branch also maintains, develops, and implements construction specifications, standards, and testing procedures, ensuring consistency in their application.

Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years of work experience including three (3) years in the field of construction and/or maintenance.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) or Registered as a Professional Engineer with a Canadian regulatory body.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and chairing specification committee meetings to review, revise, and approve standard and particular specifications.
  • Implementing and managing updates to the specification library, standards, and drawings, and communicating changes through training and guidance.
  • Prioritizing and coordinating specification review projects and developing related manuals, procedures, and guidance documents.
  • Overseeing CMOS program updates, system improvements, reporting processes, and user support and training.
  • Producing and maintaining monthly CMOS reports by compiling data from multiple operational areas.
  • Developing and maintaining the Employee Development Matrix to track required employee training and certifications.
  • Reviewing, updating, and supporting internal policy manuals and guides across multiple disciplines.
  • Maintaining the Construction Branch Shared Drive, including access management, file structure updates, security changes, archives, and related SOPs and guidelines.
