About The Position

The Product Information Management (PIM) team owns the core data pipeline that powers Nordstrom's product catalog — collecting, validating, and publishing accurate, high-quality product information in near real-time to dozens of downstream systems across the company. This data enables Nordstrom business users such as merchants, planners, data scientists, and other teams across the business to make confident decisions about what to sell, how to describe it, and when it's ready for customers to see. We are looking for a capable engineer to help our team design and develop highly scalable software applications, data pipelines, and database solutions, apply strong engineering and data principles, and deliver on Nordstrom's strategic vision for product data.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in at least one modern programming language such as Java.
3+ years of experience with SQL and No SQL databases, data modeling and automated engineering solutions.
Experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, New Relic
Experience with AI tools and a track record of weaving them into the day-to-day engineering lifecycle — from planning and coding to testing and deployment.
Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
Experience in developing near real-time distributed data processing solutions using Kafka
Experience in scalable distributed systems, service-oriented and event-driven streaming architecture.
Experience with best practices for operational excellence.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience working in a retail environment and/or supporting merchandising systems

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable and reliable micro services using in-house and modern technologies in an agile environment.
Understand the specific needs of a major line of business and the related set of applications, systems, or functions, and design data solutions that fit business needs.
Understand architecture and design interaction between multiple modules.
Design and develop distributed applications and adhere to good engineering practices.
Conduct code reviews and drive accountability in following software engineering principles.
Build testing tools and CI/CD pipeline, reduce automation friction to speed up the path to business outcomes.
Identify data performance issues and optimize the solution.
Perform ongoing production and on-call support duties to resolve any incidents and issues.
Work on cost savings, production alerts, and logging dashboards.
Communicate clearly and efficiently with Nordstrom teams.
