About The Position

THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT ATTEMPT TO LIST ALL OF THE DUTIES THAT ARE OR MAY BE PERFORMED IN THIS POSITION. Primary Duties include working under close supervision with higher-level engineers on technical assignments. These assignments involve the construction and maintenance of pipeline systems, including material selection, procedure development, code compliance, and inspection. The role also includes evaluating leakage survey effectiveness, assisting in the design, monitoring, and analysis of pipeline systems (regulation, measurement, curtailment, loss/gain of natural gas), ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations, and designing system mains, regulator and meter settings, and corrosion control protection. Additionally, the position involves conducting field investigations with public contact for right-of-way acquisition, permits, and route evaluation, coordinating activities between Engineering and Operations for timely project completion, and providing specialized reports and studies. Work typically involves process checks or review of output by a co-worker or supervisor, with these checks becoming less frequent as the incumbent gains experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on technical concepts to individuals with or without experience or knowledge of the technical area
  • Ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric and geometric operations and/or moderately complex statistical and/or accounting methods
  • Advanced knowledge of various software applications to create complex documents, reports and graphics
  • Pre and post-employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.

Responsibilities

  • Construction of new and maintenance of existing pipeline systems including selection of materials, development of procedures, compliance with applicable codes and inspection of work in progress
  • Evaluation of leakage survey effectiveness
  • Assisting in the design, monitoring and analysis of pipeline system including regulation, measurement, curtailment and loss or gain of natural gas
  • Compliance with Federal, state and local rules and regulations
  • Design of system mains, regulator and meter settings and corrosion control protection
  • Conducts field investigations involving public contact for acquiring right of way, permits, and route evaluation for gas main and other work
  • Assists in the coordination of activities between Engineering and Operations to assure the timely completion of projects
  • Provides specialized reports and studies, as directed
