The location is at Pratt & Whitney Edwards Air Force Base Hourly Job Classification Engine Technician Grade 2 pay range: $43.55 - 52.81 Shift 1st or 2nd possible.

Requirements

  • High School/GED
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Pratt & Whitney military engines related inspection methods, disassembly methods, assembly methods, machine shop practices and overhaul/repair procedures.
  • 2+ years of related engine maintenance experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • To be a certified inspector on Pratt & Whitney military engines, as applicable.
  • To possess active borescope & blade blend certifications.
  • Will be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual skills.
  • Will be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications, as required for assigned area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complicated and exacting mechanical and inspection tasks necessary to disassemble, inspect, repair and assemble Pratt & Whitney military engines and modules in accordance with written work instructions, assembly drawings and/or blueprints.
  • Perform visual and bench inspections of external parts and accessories in accordance with written work instructions and properly document all work performed within the assigned area/department.
  • Provide similar support to engine test and field operations, as required.
  • Under direction of supervisor and/or working lead follow specified work instructions to set up and prepare a variety of engines and modules for disassembly, bench inspection, repair and testing processes and assembly.
  • Utilize standard and precision measuring instruments and gages to check and calculate dimensions, as required by instructions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and request adjustments to tools and equipment, as necessary to meet process requirements.
  • Utilize computer terminals to obtain technical data and reference materials.
  • Read and interpret technical orders, manufacturers’ manuals, maintenance bulletins, blueprints, schematic drawings and other technical information.
  • Utilize technical data to determine the required tools, support equipment and parts needed to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to technical orders and compliance to P&W quality policies.
  • Inspect parts for conformance to specification, serviceability and other requirements in accordance with approved technical documents.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of parts in assigned area/department in accordance with P&W policies.
  • Utilize safety practices and procedures.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Lead a crew seldom exceeding four engine technicians to ensure assigned tasks are completed in accordance with technical orders and in compliance with applicable safety and quality policies.
  • Train and certify other technicians on qualified tasks, as required.
  • Communicate all difficulties to working lead and/or supervisor, as applicable.
