About The Position

HOLT CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, Engine Technician—Shop position available at our Longview, Texas location. Must be able to Perform complex repairs correctly such as teardown, inspection, repairs, test running, in a shop environment. Entry-level position – Generally has two or more years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; works under moderate supervision. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Requirements

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Must have a minimum of 2 years of diesel engine rebuilding experience
Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings
Must be able to read schematics and understand manufacture specifications.
Must be computer literate in order to complete all duties. Daily computer use is required
Must be able to write service reports in detail about work performed in order to report to customer all findings.
Ability to be productive by working efficiently and effectively with a high energy level.
Ability to work with limited supervision and able to work in a team atmosphere.
Must have own tools to perform duties.
Must have a valid driver's license
Must have steady employment history
Ability to frequently reach, bend, walk, etc.
Must be able to lift 60 lbs. approximately 15 times a day.
Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Excellent attention to detail and results-oriented.
Excellent work attendance is required.
Able to work overtime as needed to meet customer demand
At least two years of industrial engine repair experience e.g. natural gas or diesel
Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

Nice To Haves

CAT ET and CAT SIS 2.0 experience is preferred or related diagnostic software
Diesel Technical schooling or Off-Highway Equipment schooling preferred.

Responsibilities

Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
Mentors and helps train other technicians
Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
Performs other duties as assigned
