About The Position

Segers Aero Corporation located in Fairhope, AL is seeking an Engine Mechanic to join our team. We offer a competitive benefits package and a 9/80 work schedule that includes every other Friday off. The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance on aircraft engines, accessories, and components.

Requirements

  • Must provide and maintain personal toolbox in accordance with Segers’ Tool Control Plan.
  • Must be able to use large specialty tools such as torque wrenches, impact wrenches, hydraulic press and bearing pullers.
  • Must be able to obtain needed information and data from FAR’s, bulletins, and maintenance manuals to perform assigned maintenance functions.
  • Must be proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiative.
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.
  • Must be able to apply common sense.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English.
  • Must be proficient in company-specific software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs.
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE.
  • Must have knowledge of precision measuring tools/equipment (dimensional and electrical).
  • Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to hear running machinery.
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.
  • Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally.
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead.
  • Must regularly be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, twist and stand.
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally.
  • Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in performing maintenance on components in an MRO environment is preferred.
  • A&P license or FAA Power Plant Rating is preferred.
  • Forklift certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance duties on aircraft engines, accessories, and components in accordance with SAC Repair Station Manual, SAC Quality Manual, Customer SOP’s, and applicable technical data.
  • Using AeroTrac ERP system and company internal paperwork, accurately document the completion of maintenance performed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Safe operation of the overhead crane.
  • Complete and maintain Forklift Certification in accordance with company standards.
  • Correct and safe use of specialty tools, torches, and chemicals as directed.
  • Perform FOD (Foreign Object Debris) inspections, and toolbox inspections daily.
  • Works to production schedule as directed by manager/lead.
  • Communicates with manager/lead to recommend changes, such as equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase the efficiency of the department and promote improvement.
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy.
  • Observe and practice all safety procedures and personal policies.
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean workstation free from Foreign Object and/or Debris (FOD), ensures tooling is properly stored.
  • Maintains a clean/safe workspace free from spills or obstructions which may lead to harm.
  • Travels as required.
  • Confers with manager/lead to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase the efficiency of the department and promote improvement.
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner.
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy.
  • Works overtime as needed.
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.).
  • Other duties as required.
