Prepares engines and installs various apparatus and control instrumentation used in test cells for testing of prototype catalytic systems for product development and applications. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Familiar and able to demonstrate standard mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Class C MUSTR certification must be obtained within 24 months of being in role
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Good verbal communication skills (i.e.: with other employees, both with-in the current shift and the other shifts, persons in other departments, etc.)
  • Competency with Microsoft suite of programs
  • Must be open to 2nd Shift Work Schedule (Mon – Fri 2:30PM to 11:00PM)

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of Test Cell experience – Desired

Responsibilities

  • Capable of running prescribed test sequences and test parameters as specified on the line-up for Diesel development, Gasoline aging, or Oven aging with minimal supervision.
  • Monitors the cells during the running of a test, checking temperature, oil pressure, and other readings.
  • Monitors controls and instruments and record test data.
  • Monitor strip charts which checks heat, vacuum, temperature, fuel, air readings, etc.
  • Performs engine checks and maintenance to ensure there are no fuel or oil leaks or engine malfunctions.
  • Employee will comply with all Johnson Matthey Hazardous Waste procedures and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for completion of daily shift report and notes prior to following shift arriving and assisting other technicians to accurately complete their reports.
  • Conducts troubleshooting of instrumentation and engines.
  • Utilizes appropriate support resources to resolve problems.
  • Participates in the installation of engines and parts to be tested.
  • Connect valves, hydraulic, mechanical, or electrical controls and indicating instrumentation.
  • Performs daily housekeeping to work areas and provided tools.
  • Utilizing 5S practices where appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
