About The Position

American Forests is seeking a part-time (20 hrs/week) Engagement Manager for a one-year term to join their Urban Forestry team. This role will support the organization's efforts to engage and support frontline-serving leaders advancing Tree Equity. The Engagement Manager will be responsible for project managing and executing a national peer-to-peer learning network for Catalyst Fund grantee-partners, coordinating and delivering a portfolio of engagements including virtual roundtables, workshops, and an in-person convening. The goal is to build partner capacity, strengthen the Tree Equity movement, foster relationships, and create a connected, engaged grantee network within urban forestry.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in coordinating events, trainings, or cohort-based programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban forestry, urban planning, landscape architecture, environmental science, or related field preferred.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience managing projects and programs across multiple teams.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail, sound judgment and an eye for visual design.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, interpersonal communication skills, and ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to social and environmental justice, and an informed perspective in outreach to diverse audiences and inclusive engagement approaches.
  • Demonstrated commitment to American Forests values, which include advancing the interests of all people, embracing all perspectives, prioritizing work not by popularity but what is needed most and empowering people to take action.
  • Familiarity with Airtable, Mailchimp, Microsoft365 and SharePoint, CRM systems.

Nice To Haves

  • ISA Certified Arborist and/or Certified Urban Forest Professional or other relevant professional credentials desired.
  • Additional experience accepted in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage delivery of a defined engagement portfolio: 3 virtual roundtables, 2-3 virtual workshops, and 1 in-person convening.
  • Support refinement of the engagement program through alignment with technical learning and capacity-building objectives.
  • Coordinate with Urban Forestry staff to develop agendas, and support development of materials and learning content.
  • Own timelines, agenda development, run-of-show, and post-event follow-up.
  • Coordinate speakers, facilitators, and internal contributors.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Operations staff to ensure smooth event logistics, vendor coordination, and financial management.
  • Coordinate with Marketing & Communications staff to amplify engagements externally and align with American Forests’ marketing and storytelling objectives.
  • Track participation, feedback, and outputs across engagements.
  • Serve as primary coordinator for grantee cohort engagement.
  • Manage bi-monthly grantee newsletter.
  • Facilitate communication and participation across partners.
  • Provide responsive, high-quality support to grantee partners and track engagement and maintain CRM records.
  • Synthesize feedback to improve future programming and conduct research to inform strategic program development.
  • Support marketing and communications initiatives, as requested.
