About The Position

ORCID is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic professional for the position of fully remote Engagement Lead. The role focuses on fostering member relationships, managing new membership development, and ensuring member success to support ORCID's sustainability, mission, and core strategies. The position will be part of our Engagement team, reporting to the Director of Engagement and is full time (40 hours/week). Like all positions at ORCID, the role is fully remote. Candidates must be able to work during eastern US standard business hours (Mon-Fri) with at least four hours daily between 9:00 AM-2:00 PM ET, with some recurring meetings between 10:00 AM-1:00 PM ET. Outside of these parameters, ORCID offers flexibility with your schedule.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in a consultative business development, account management or externally facing product-related role
  • Proven track record in developing and maintaining new organizational relationships
  • 2+ plus years of experience working with the Scholarly Community, ideally within open research or open scholarly infrastructure
  • Experience setting, coordinating and achieving strategic goals with external partners
  • Experience working and engaging in global, multicultural, and virtual team environments
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and balance competing priorities
  • Fluency in English. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to travel based upon business needs (less than 25%)

Responsibilities

  • Foster and manage relationships with members and stakeholders in assigned segments in North America to ensure renewals.
  • Identify, develop, and close new membership opportunities.
  • Increase the depth, number and diversity of integrations to improve data contribution.
  • Coordinate and execute member support requests in collaboration with other ORCID staff where relevant, to ensure high member satisfaction and value.
  • Coordinate and align with assigned Consortium Lead organizations through regular meetings and strategic planning, to advance ORCID’s mission, grow memberships, and increase adoption, ensuring a consistently collaborative approach.
  • Provide insights and recommendations related to your assigned members and region(s), to inform strategic decision making.
  • Build global "communities of practice" within your assigned segments and/or regions.
  • Assist in defining and executing outreach initiatives, collaborating with various ORCID teams as needed.
  • Present and represent ORCID at in-person and virtual events where needed, manage travel and administration as required, and handle abstract submission and application processes where needed.
  • Consistently follow and execute on defined processes and procedures. Actively contribute to identifying opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with colleagues to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Actively cooperate with and inform colleagues to foster transparency, collaboration, and achieve the best outcomes for the organization.
  • Participate in cross-team initiatives and projects, collaborating with colleagues in other ORCID teams as needed to support shared goals.
