About The Position

The Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) Engagement Coordinator has a multifunctional role in supporting the success of the HOPWA The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Engagement Coordinator supports the implementation and success of the HOPWA program by connecting residents to housing resources and supportive services, engaging community stakeholders, and ensuring program compliance. This position works closely with residents, service providers, landlords, subrecipients, and internal teams to expand access to HOPWA services throughout the service area. The HOPWA Engagement Coordinator reports to the Contracts and Compliance Manager and supports multiple interdepartmental initiatives.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, along with strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, psychology, business, or related field.
  • Experience in case management, housing programs, nonprofit, government, or public service work.
  • Experience with advocacy and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of HUD or HOPWA programs.
  • Bilingual or Multilingual abilities preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for persons living with HIV/AIDS and increase awareness of available HOPWA resources and services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, medical providers, nonprofits, landlords, and housing partners throughout the HOPWA service area.
  • Support administration of the Short-Term Rent, Mortgage and Utility (STRMU) and Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) programs.
  • Identify opportunities to expand HOPWA services and improve coordination of housing and supportive services.
  • Assist residents with accessing housing assistance, supportive services, and mainstream community resources.
  • Assess resident needs and determine appropriate services and assistance.
  • Coordinate services with social, healthcare, financial, and legal providers.
  • Maintain case files, documentation, and follow-up activities to support resident success and housing stability.
  • Assist with monitoring contractors and subrecipients to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support administration of the STRMU and TBRA programs.
  • Monitor reporting databases and assist with data quality and reporting accuracy.
  • Provide technical assistance and compliance support to subrecipients and partners.
  • Assist with developing and implementing policies, procedures, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support program operations and service delivery.
