About The Position

This role focuses on the operational execution and improvement of systems that foster member engagement and belonging within an online community platform. The specialist will analyze engagement metrics, coordinate with volunteer moderators, manage mentorship program operations, oversee the educational abstract and submission process, and collaborate across departments to translate existing work into engaging member moments. Additionally, the role involves engaging with external platform partners and vendors to test functionality and advocate for improvements. The core rhythm of the role involves operating, improving, and ensuring members feel the positive impact of these systems.

Requirements

  • At least two years of professional experience in member engagement, volunteer engagement, program coordination, community management, association management, nonprofit operations, or a related field.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supporting online communities, volunteer programs, educational programs, member services, or engagement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing technology platforms, databases, community platforms, CRM systems, or learning management systems to support program administration and participant engagement.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects or operational activities simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information, solve problems, and provide high-quality service in a member- or customer-focused environment.
  • Energized by execution and prefer being close to the operational details.
  • Takes ownership and accountability for outcomes when systems break or members experience friction.
  • Understands that process design is experience design and can identify where adjustments create connection, trust, and belonging.
  • Comfortable working in environments where not everything is fully defined and where part of the role is shaping and improving the system.
  • Adapts quickly to evolving platforms and workflows and is energized by change.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing engagement metrics from the online community platform to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinating with volunteer moderators to ensure community guidelines are clear, engagement is consistent, and issues are addressed.
  • Managing mentorship program operations, including onboarding, mentor/mentee matching, troubleshooting, and refining communications.
  • Managing the educational abstract and submission process, ensuring timelines are met, submissions are processed, reviewers are supported, and participants have a clear experience.
  • Collaborating across departments to translate existing work (events, programs, education, volunteer initiatives) into engaging member moments.
  • Engaging with external platform partners and vendors to test functionality, identify system gaps, and advocate for improvements.
