About The Position

Ford Motor Company is seeking an Eng Spec, VRT Co-Lead / Quality Process Engineer for their Quality team in Wayne, Michigan. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement efforts to deliver high-quality products and services through innovative initiatives like the Global Product Development System, Quality Operating System, and New Model Launch. The position involves working cross-functionally with integrated teams in Manufacturing, Product Development, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, and Service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 1 year of experience utilizing six sigma tools including 5WHY or 8-D to solve manufacturing process issues.
  • 1 year of experience using Core tools including Control plan and PFMEA for proactive risk management and quality improvement in manufacturing processes.
  • 1 year of experience utilizing Ergonomic analysis tools including MODAPTS or 3-D printing to improve operator efficiency and optimize job utilization.
  • 1 year of experience using Error proofing tools including Sensors and Vision Systems to early detection and prevention of issues in Manufacturing process.
  • 1 year of experience applying DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology in improving Warranty, Ford internal FCPA audit score, Plant Roll throughput Yield and Plant First run capability.
  • 1 year of experience overseeing production organization and leading cross functional VRT teams by conducting VRT working level and report out meetings, leading PAC paper reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Support VRT with statistical process control and data analysis.
  • Participate with VRT team to conduct a periodic job observation.
  • Update the status to completion of periodic job observation.
  • Provide external and internal data checks for quality reviews.
  • Maintain health chart schedule and assessments.
  • Maintain and review quality leadership system charts for data accuracy and work group binning.
  • Perform subsystem checks as required.
  • Learn control plan and verify data entry as required into web-based data management.
  • Assemble acceptance criteria visual aids for the VRT.
  • Maintain cycle line lay out indicator mapping with the assistance of the VRT.
  • Update and maintain the Quality Confirmation Map.
  • Apply Quality principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
  • Analyze root causes, engage in mapping and corrective actions to reduce inventory.
  • Lead role in resolving assembly related concerns.
  • Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices.
  • Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool and 6 panel.
