This role is for a Power Electronics Design Engineer with 7 to 20+ years of experience looking for the next step to grow their career and design technology-leading products that matter. The Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business is experiencing unprecedented growth, with design centers in Endicott, New York, and a new development center in Austin, Texas. Engineers will develop flight and mission-critical products for over 170 commercial and military customers. Opportunities include designing and developing next-generation Fly-By-Wire Flight Controls, Aircraft Engine Controls, Ground Vehicle Power Management Systems, Aircraft Electrification Systems, Advanced Air Mobility Systems, Autonomous Flight Systems, Flight Deck Systems, Cabin Management Systems, Weapon Control Systems, and Mission Systems. Candidates can expect to work in mid-size, cooperative, dependable, and supportive teams in a hybrid environment, both co-located and geographically distributed. As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will impact the design, development, and production of high-power electronics control and propulsion systems for hybrid and electric aircraft, heavy-duty vehicles, and vessels globally. You will conduct research, design, development, and testing of information processing hardware, including computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, and electrical components. Responsibilities include designing new or modifying existing products, developing technical specifications for production, analyzing hardware configurations and processing solutions, and testing hardware conformance to specifications. Engineers at the Endicott, NY location support Controls & Avionics Solutions (CAS), defining and developing next-generation avionics, and Power & Propulsion Solutions (PPS), focusing on efficient power management for military vehicles and eco-friendly hybrid and electric systems for the commercial sector. Requirements

  • BSEE Degree or higher
  • Technical writing skills: capable of creating required engineering documentation.
  • Motivated self-starter who has the ability to work effectively in team environment
  • Experience in power electronics related design and development, including familiarity with DC/DC Converters, motor drives, gate drivers, analog circuitry, and magnetics
  • 6 or more years' experience in Hardware Design Engineering or Product Support Engineering
  • Experience with design of DC DC converters and motor drives with power levels of up to 500kW and DC link voltages to 1000V or higher
  • Experience in full lifecycle development including component level requirements and design, component and system-level integration, validation, and verification
  • Ability to work with software and firmware-controlled power converters and power systems
  • Experience working in a high voltage / high power lab environment
  • Experience with design analysis tools such as PSPICE, MathCad

Responsibilities

  • Design, developing and production following of high-power electronics control and propulsion systems used in hybrid and electric aircraft, heavy-duty vehicles and vessels across the globe.
  • Conduct research, design, development, and testing of information processing hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, and electrical components.
  • Design new or modify existing products, develop technical specifications for production, analyze hardware configuration and processing solutions, and test hardware conformance to specifications.
  • Help define and develop the next generation of avionics – whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management & propulsion for future aircraft.
  • Involve with everything from providing efficient, power management on military vehicles to developing eco-friendly, hybrid and electric systems for the commercial world.
