About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer I and II candidates to join their Energy Storage Group. This role provides electrical technical support throughout the entire construction project lifecycle. The position requires strong communication skills for interacting with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. Flexibility, inventiveness, dedication, efficiency, integrity, and confidentiality are vital for success. This position offers opportunities at both Engineer I and II levels, with compensation based on experience and location. The role involves 100% travel or rotation across various locations in CA, NM, TX, and CO.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or similar technical field or equivalent field experience (for Engineer I)
• Minimum one year of construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with a MEP Contractor, Commissioning firm (for Engineer I)
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks (for Engineer I)
• Basic understanding of key construction documents and their relationship to construction Project Management and Field Executions (for Engineer I)
• Basic understanding of how design, construction, start-up, and turnover align within the project delivery process (for Engineer I)
• Basic understanding of key construction documents and their relationship to Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC) (for Engineer I)
• Fundamental knowledge of commissioning processes and commissioning process delivery (for Engineer I)
• Ability to conceptually relate the construction deliverable to the commissioning deliverable (for Engineer I)
• Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level (for Engineer I and II)
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies (for Engineer I and II)
• Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills (for Engineer I and II)
• Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback (for Engineer I)
• Ability to travel 100% (for Engineer I)
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (for Engineer II)
• Minimum three years in electrical construction management or electrical design (for Engineer II)
• Utility experience preferred (for Engineer II)
• This is a traveling field position (for Engineer II)
• Demonstrate strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills (for Engineer II)
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and run multiple project tasks (for Engineer II)
• Possess basic understanding of construction law, generally accepted business practices, construction techniques, and project management practices (for Engineer II)

Responsibilities

• Reviewing owner project requirements
• Assist in performing scope reviews
• Assist in creating commissioning plans, checklists, and tests
• Performing field visits and observing commissioning inspections and tests where prescribed means and methods are provided
• Assist in writing issue descriptions and field reports
• Assist in creating Systems Manuals
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Support planning and execution of system tests, including but not limited to NETA, SCADA, controls, and operations verification of energy storage systems.
• All other duties as assigned
