About The Position

The Energy Operations Technician is responsible for assisting in the Energy Department to ensure successful operations including installations, delivery, maintenance, special projects, and excellent customer service. This role involves participating in the delivery of various energy products, assisting with repairs on company equipment, coordinating with sales staff for customer needs, and ensuring the completion of new customer installations. The technician will also assist with inventory control, maintenance programs, special projects, and general housekeeping duties. A strong emphasis is placed on customer service, safety awareness, and adherence to company core values.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of the cooperative.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and weights.
  • Commercial Driver’s License Class A with Haz-Mat, Airbrake, and Tanker Endorsements and/or the ability to obtain and maintain.
  • CETP (Certified Employee Training Program) Certification and/or the ability to obtain and maintain.
  • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulation and labeling.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and/or smell.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 112 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to legally operate a grain elevator manlift with the door closed, (300 lb. weight limit), climb stairs, and climb ladders to the top of the elevator (approximately an additional 30’-40’).
  • May occasionally need to climb ladders that may range from 5’ to 40’.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must understand and implement all related safety policies, procedures and programs for prevention and protection while performing job duties in various work environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience related to energy, grain, feed, fertilizer, chemicals, and/or farm supplies is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in the delivery of bulk/packaged lubricants, DEF, refined fuels, propane, and other ancillary products to Ag Partners Coop and Cenex ® Lubricant Terminal (CLT) customers.
  • Assisting in repairs on company bulk refined fuel tanks, bulk propane tanks, and Cardtrol fuel dispensers as needed to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Working closely with energy sales staff to coordinate and ensure that customer-ordered products are scheduled and delivered as needed.
  • Ensuring completion of new customer installations of propane tanks, fuel tanks, DEF systems, and bulk oil totes; also, service our existing customers and safety leak checks on existing systems for propane.
  • Assisting in inventory control, including but not limited to: fuel tanks, propane tanks, oil totes, tank and tote accessories, bulk and packaged lubricants, bulk and packaged DEF, grease, and ancillary products.
  • Assisting the Energy Operations Manager & CLT Division Manager in prepping for bulk and packaged lubricant orders.
  • Assisting the Energy Operations Manager in developing and implementing maintenance, repair, and housekeeping programs to be used on energy department facilities, equipment, and tools.
  • Assisting with Energy Department special projects, as required.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring appropriate steps are taken to accomplish the security of products and facilities.
  • Providing excellent customer service by leading through difficult or emotional situations, responding promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints, and concerns immediately, and meeting commitments.
  • Ensuring flexibility of schedule when additional time demands are required.
  • Working with other cooperative staff across locations to ensure cooperative goals are met.
  • Maintaining and promoting safety awareness; following safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
